ABOUT ME AND MY WORK
I’m a potter based in Sydney, Australia.
I make functional ceramics designed for every day use using various porcelain and dark stoneware clays.
Each pot is hand thrown on the potters wheel and glazed with original recipes using raw materials. The pots are fired twice; a 10 hour biscuit firing at 1000°C followed by a 12 hour glaze firing at 1280°C. They’re manually ‘reduction fired’ in an LPG fuelled kiln with the goal of creating interesting forms, colours and textures that are food safe, durable and a pleasure to use.
I also like to share the ceramic process, ideas and any discoveries I encounter along the way on my Instagram @finnleapottery. A big part of the process being clay reclaim and glaze testing, so that energy and resources are not wasted.
